An effective sign

We came across this sign in Paris, and we found it particularly clever: we were able to understand it even if we don't speak French at all (and we bet it could be understood even by illiterates).

The things we appreciated the most were:
  • the use of a distinctive icon to represent la Défense (the most relevant attraction outside the limits of validity of a standard ticket of Paris public transport);
  • the use of the minimum amount of text necessary (on the sign there are almost only station names) and the attempt to describe everything visually;
  • the translation in three languages of all relevant messages.
(PS: we hope you'll forgive the bad quality of the picture: it was taken in a hurry from an iPhone camera)
